Visit of the Duus family

Stikoni's radio business was started in 1948 as a radio workshop at Mariegade 8 in Sønderborg by Andreas Duus.

In 1952, Andreas Duus and his wife Ruth Duus bought the property at Jernbanegade 37, where they set up a shop, office and workshop and lived on the first floor of the property themselves. Andreas Duus died at the age of just 33 in the autumn of 1955, and Ruth Duus tried to continue running the business with the help of a journeyman in the workshop.

This is a fairly big challenge for a young woman with two small children, which is why Stig Kofoed Nielsen (Stikoni), after being employed at Zellweger A.G. Apparate- und Maschinenfabrik in Uster, Switzerland, and having served his military service and been employed at Terma in Aarhus, in 1956 took over the business's equipment and furnishings and rented the premises.

Ruth Duus still lives on the first floor, and does not move out until sometime in the nineties.

Ruth Duus, who is now a healthy lady in her eighties, recently (April 28, 2011) visited the Radio Museum with her two children and their spouses.

It was a good day for both the Duus family and "the employees" at the Radio Museum, where a lot of good first-hand information flowed into the Radio Museum.

After the museum tour, there is a coffee table in the museum's workroom.
